Innisfree is one of the popular brands that started in the year 2000. It is popular for using natural ingredients in its products and for which people love it. But the main question that people want to know is are they cruelty-free products? Unfortunately, it cannot be said as 100% Cruelty-free products. Innisfree is a brand of its parent company Amore Pacific and its parent company is known for testing their final products on animals. Therefore, Innisfree cannot be labeled a cruelty-free brand.

What cannot be called cruelty-free products?

Those companies that directly or indirectly deal with animal testing practices cannot be called as following Cruelty-free practices. Those who endorse animal testing indirectly through a third party or do business in countries that require animal testing as the final test of the safety of the products cannot be called a cruelty-free brand. As for the Innisfree brand, all these mentioned above are practiced by the brand. Innisfree has not claimed nor shown in any way that they conduct their testing separately from their parent company Amorepacific Corporation. Their stance towards this issue is not completely transparent so it cannot be confirmed that they are a completely cruelty-free company.

So, is Innisfree a cruelty-free brand?

The discretion of whether to term Innisfree brand as cruelty-free depends on the individual. The definition of cruelty-free practices depends on the person’s choice. Innisfree does sell in countries that require animal testing to determine the safety of its products and they do allow animal testing wherever it requires. For instance, in countries like China animal testing is mandatory. It is required by law and Innisfree has a huge market in China. Also, Innisfree allows for third-party testing. Even if the brand may not do the testing directly but by allowing the third party to do it, they are endorsing such practices. Such practices make Innisfree a doubtful brand in regards to making animal cruelty-free products.

Innisfree brand on its certifications

The Innisfree brand’s growing demands and popularity only put pressure on them to take more responsibility towards cruelty-free practices and one hopes that they get more open about their testing. But sadly for those people who love cruelty-free products, Innisfree hasn’t shown to have any reputable certification to date. The brand has no awards by PETA or leaping bunny either.

Innisfree brand adopting more greener measures

Innisfree claims to adopt a more sustainable way of making its products by adopting greener measures. They are in the business of making skin-conscious products with their green innovation lab. They do heavy research on natural ingredients that are gentle on the skin as well as on the environment. People love their products for the natural ingredients they use and also for their high quality and affordability.

Their vegan products range is on an expansion mode. They have adopted marine ecosystems friendly measures by making sunscreen that they claim to be reef-friendly. Innisfree is also big on taking measures to go plastic-free by using recycled plastic in their packaging. The brand is also actively involved in the reforestation efforts and plans to reach its goal of planting 5 lakh trees. They term themselves as an eco-conscious beauty brand.

People love to get their hands on Innisfree products even if they have a clear stance on them not being a cruelty-free brand. It is clear that their popularity is only rising with time and it is hugely loved in America and around the world. The brand’s popularity is a testament to the fact that now one can get their products online and people across the globe can get their hands on this Korean product. People love it.

The only thing now the brand needs to do is to have a bolder stance on ending animal testing or associating themselves with cruelty-free practices directly or indirectly. That will be a great leap of faith but it will surely earn them more love and reputation to those customers who have a sensitivity towards this issue. They owe it to their loyal customers. One can only hope that this most loved brand will be more transparent on where they stand.
