It was a tough road for video games in 2015. While various titles surfaced and got the attention of gamers, one title in particular stole the spotlight away from everyone else: Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 4. The open world struggle for survival in a post apocalyptic Boston charmed fans and critics alike, breaking sales records across the gaming spectrum.

In short, Fallout 4 was to gaming what Star Wars: The Force Awakens is to the cinema: a monolithic title that buries all other titles (whether worth a look or not) unfortunate enough to be released in the same time window. No doubt this is unfortunate, as some titles deserved their own time front and center.

Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of The Tomb Raider happens to be one of these titles. Hailed by many as one of the best games of the year, it had the misfortune of sharing its November 10th release date with Fallout 4. This, coupled with the fact that the Lara Croft action-adventure game was an Xbox exclusive, meant that the release passed by largely unnoticed by PS4 and PC gamers. That could be about to change, however, as word has begun to spread that PC fans of Lara Croft’s adventures might just be getting their chance at bringing Rise of The Tomb Raider home this January.

Digital distribution platform Steam seems to have broke the news after a listing for the PC edition of the game was posted to the gaming site. Though the listing doesn’t provide an exact release date, it does plainly state January 2016 as the month when PC gamers can finally own the game. For their part, neither Crystal Dynamics nor Square Enix have said anything about when a PC release of Rise of The Tomb Raider could occur.

At one point there was some confusion as to whether or not Rise of The Tomb Raider would even make it to either the PS4 console or PC. This was cleared up this past summer when Square Enix announced that the game would arrive for PS4 in “Holiday 2016” and that PC users would enjoy the game even sooner, citing an early 2016 release (though no specific date was given). Thankfully for PC fans of Lara Croft, it looks as though their wait for Rise of The Tomb Raider isn’t going to be much longer.

This December, Rise of The Tomb Raider was Xbox One’s best selling digital game during the Christmas week. Hopefully now that Fallout 4 has had its initial time to shine, more people will start turning their attention to this title, providing it with the level of consideration that many would argue it deserves. At any rate, if there’s one thing we can always count on it’s that you can never count Lara Croft out.

Rise of The Tomb Raider is currently available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
